Data Deletion

It's your data. You can delete your HeySocialFish account and everything in it at any time, in two clicks. Any active subscriptions are cancelled automatically — no clawback, no “are you sure?” guilt trip.

Delete your account from the app (recommended)

  1. Sign in at heysocialfish.com/login
  2. Open Settings from the sidebar
  3. Scroll to Delete Account
  4. Confirm the prompt

That's it. Deletion runs immediately and is irreversible.

Delete by emailing us

If you can't sign in (forgotten password, account locked, no longer have the email), send a deletion request to support@heysocialfish.com from the email address on the account. Include:

  • Subject: Data deletion request
  • The account email
  • (Optional) any context that helps us verify it's really you

We'll confirm receipt within one working day and complete the deletion within 7 days — typically much faster.

What happens when you delete

The moment you confirm:

  • Active subscriptions (Stripe or GoCardless) are cancelled at the provider. You will not be charged again.
  • Your workspace data — content plans, posts, drafts, calendar entries, video analyses, contacts, campaigns, integrations — is permanently removed from our production database.
  • OAuth tokens for any connected platforms (YouTube, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook) are deleted from our key vault. We can no longer access your accounts on those platforms.
  • Uploaded media (videos, thumbnails, assets) is removed from our storage.
  • Your user account is removed from our system.

What we keep, briefly

We retain a small, anonymised audit log of the deletion event itself — the timestamp, the workspace identifier, and the deletion source (self-serve or manual) — for up to 12 months. This is required by our financial-records retention policy and is necessary to handle chargebacks, payment reconciliation, and regulatory enquiries. It contains no personal data and cannot be used to identify you.

Payment-related records held by Stripe or GoCardless are retained according to their own policies and statutory requirements (typically 6-7 years for financial records). We don't control those retention periods — they apply to anyone who has ever paid the company, regardless of whether the HeySocialFish account is later deleted.

Deleting data the platforms have on us

HeySocialFish only ever sees the data you explicitly connect (e.g. YouTube channel stats, TikTok video analytics). When you disconnect a platform — from the Connect page — we delete the access token and stop reading from that platform immediately.

Deletion is meant to be straightforward. If anything fails or you're unsure whether it worked, email support@heysocialfish.com — a human reads every message and will get back to you within one working day.
